New Month = New Theme!
What do you do when you go shopping for supplies?
Do you make a list? Do you bring your project(s)? How about when. you get home with all those treasures?
The Sewing Organization Challenge for this week focuses on just that: shopping for supplies.
I know, I know--it doesn't seem to fit into organizing your space, BUT I feel one short coming from other organization videos is just that--they don't tell you have to maintain and enjoy your space, other than simply telling you to maintain and enjoy it. My questions is always this: how? In another week it will be a mess again!
It all comes down to creating good habits, and one of those habits is putting your treasure away after bringing them home. :)
Check out this week's video showing my goals for this tricky subject:
This week's tasks:
Create a Shopping List: Whether it is on your phone (my favorite method) or on paper, keep a running shopping list so you are more focused when you go shopping for supplies. This doesn't mean you can't shop just to shop, but if you are anything like me, my brain sometimes seems to fall out as soon as I walk into the fabric store.
Create a Future Projects List: A list of future projects is always a good idea, an it's fun, too! Take pictures of the supplies needed for a new project or bring the pattern with you. This will help you from impulse buying, purchasing too little or too much, and keep you on track with projects. Again, you can use your phone or paper--whatever works for you!
Put Away Your Purchases: Have a plan for when you get home. Don't just toss the bag on the table. Instead, actually PUT THE STUFF AWAY. Our spaces should be nice and organized now. Everything should have a place, right? This should be easy to do, and I hope it is for you.
FUN Task: Visit your local quilt shop this week. Please support these treasures. They are an important and valuable resource for us as makers.
